Η ΑΛΛΗ ΑΠΟΨΗ

Οι δηλώσεις του δημάρχου Καλλιθέας Γιάννη Ιατρίδη σε Αγγλική εφημερίδα περί "ανακούφισης" επειδή το Φαληράκι δεν κατακλύζεται πλέον από άγγλους και τα σχόλια για λιγότερη βία, βιασμούς, μεθυσμένους και ατυχήματα προκάλεσαν την αντίδραση Βρεττανών που μένουν χρόνια στην περιοχή μας και έχουν δημιουργήσει οικογένειες. Η παρακάτω επιστολή από την κυρία Elli Cas - Kanti είναι χαρακτηριστική:

"In the seaside resort of Faliraki it is a good year for Mayor Ioannis Iatrides. 'Mercifully our clientele this summer is a wonderful mix of people from all over Europe who know how to peacefully enjoy their time in the sun,' he enthuses. 'There are far fewer Britons, which means no rapes, no accidents, no drunken debauchery, no going on the rampage. I'm so relieved.'"

This article was printed as recently as Sunday July 27th 2008. I would just like to ask which optician the Mayor gets his rose tinted spectacles from? Is this 'wonderful mix of people from all over Europe' the same people who bring a suitcase of food with them and buy a lilo and umbrella so that they can get by on fresh air and sunshine, or the other wonderful mix who come all inclusive and go into internet cafes and ask for a glass of tap water? There are indeed fewer Britons as all those British tourists who visited and enjoyed Faliraki over the last 20 years ( you remember, the ones that made Faliraki one of the richest municipalities in Greece) can no longer stand to holiday alongside the 'youth market' yobbos who are the 'last chance saloon' punters looking for sun sea, sex and fish bowls, as cheaply as possible of course. The type of customers who amuse themselves by pulling their pants down at a family barbeque, vomiting in the pool, instigating a urinating party on the 3rd floor corridor (they wanted to make another swimming pool) or defecating in a perfume box and leaving it as 'a present' for the cleaners. These were the customers we entertained in the first two weeks of July. We opened on July 2nd and we close September 24th. Still I suppose we should be grateful at the way things have turned out in Faliraki with everyone having such a great time and the wonderful mix of people we have now. Who needs the old times eh, when we had tourism (Britons, I believe) from April till the end of October and they spent their money in the bars, restaurants, supermarkets and local businesses. I have to sign off now, my beer goggles are pinching.
